Suntuitive® thermochromic glass
A dynamic self-tinting window using Solar Responsive Thermochromic PVB technology
Suntuitive is Australia’s first truly Solar Responsive Thermochromic (SRT) adaptive PVB interlayer laminated in glass. This innovative SRT technology uses the sun’s energy to cause the tinting of the window based on the amount of direct sunlight hitting the external surface. Its ability to adjust the level of tint depending on the intensity of the sun without using power results in remarkable energy savings and makes it the perfect fit for sustainable buildings.
The active ingredient is the SRT (PVB) interlayer which is is not a coating or after-market product. When the sun hits the surface it is able to block UV and Infrared light whilst allowing a VLT of 10-50% depending on position of the sun. That is, it self-tints as necessary to block excessive heat when the sun is at its hottest and highest position in the sky. It then returns to its natural state in the absence of direct sunlight – so the amount of daylight is as it should be at all times.
Best of all, when combined with low-e like LoĒ³-366® in an Insulated Glass Unit (IGU), SolarAdapt achieves unprecedented performance as shown in the table below.
Combines perfectly with the best low-e glass in an IGU
Requires no power
Assists with Green Star ratings.
Achieves outstanding U-Value and low solar heat gain figures in an IGU
Heat strengthened laminated safety glass
Reduced glare and maximised daylight
SRT film is laminated between two panes of heat-treated or tempered glass as specified by the customer, so design can still be customised. It can also be paired with any low-e film.
